The study shows that virtually all (99 percent) manufacturing executives surveyed estimate that an open ecosystem is important to driving large-scale 3D printing. While 85 percent of manufacturers reported that additive manufacturing on an industrial scale has the potential to increase their company’s revenue, 22 percent said that their commitment to 3D printing would have led to vendor engagement that restricted flexibility.
